So children can play safely, here is an honest account of the information we handle.

1. About this site

Hajimari Garden (“this site”) offers a free browser game for children to practice using a mouse, along with reading for parents. Please reach us through the Contact page.

2. Information in the game

  • We never ask for personal information such as names, email addresses or home addresses. There is no sign-up or login.
  • Game progress (the fish book, cleared stages, sound and theme settings, and so on) is saved only inside your browser (local storage). It is not sent to our server.
  • Clearing your browser’s “site data” deletes all of it.
  • No ads are shown on the game screen.

3. Analytics

  • The game screen does not use any analytics tools, because it is where children play.
  • Pages for parents (the top page, “Our story”, and similar pages, in Japanese and English) use Google Analytics (GA4) to gather statistics on how often pages are viewed and how often the “Play” button is pressed (since October 2026). It uses cookies and similar technologies, and collects information in a way that does not identify individuals. We do not use advertising features such as Google signals.
  • For visitors in the EU, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are not used until consent is given.
  • Reading pages we may publish with WordPress will follow the same policy.
  • For how Google handles this information, see Google’s policy. You can avoid this data collection by turning off cookies in your browser.

4. Outside services

  • We use Google Fonts to display text. When a page opens, your browser fetches fonts from Google’s servers, so information such as your IP address is sent to Google.

5. Ads

In the future, ads (such as Google AdSense) may appear on reading pages. In that case, ad providers may use cookies to collect information, and we will add the details to this page. We will never place ads on the game screen. For content aimed at children, we follow each ad provider’s rules.

6. Messages you send us

Anything you enter in the contact form is used only to reply to you, and is never shared with third parties without your consent. Please do not send your child’s personal information (name, school, photos, and so on).

7. For children

We recommend that children play where a parent or caregiver can keep an eye on them. Please teach your child to ask you before tapping any link that leads to another website.

8. Updates

We may revise this page as our services or the law change. When we do, we will update the date below.

This is an English translation. If there is any difference, the Japanese version applies.
